About Us

We bred and showed Beagles from the late 1960’s. David died in 2022 and Lesley has almost  retired from breeding and only shows occasionally. Lesley’s passion in her senior years is Nosework/Scentwork and the 2 retired Beagles she lives with, just love this sport also. Lesley is still an active judge and enjoys traveling for judging and for pleasure.

David bred Beagles in the USA under the STARBUCK prefix, and Lesley in Australia under the TORBAY prefix. Following our marriage, in 1988, we showed & bred Beagles successfully in Michigan, USA, using the STARBUCK TORBAY prefix.

In 1995. we moved to Australia, and lived about 1 hour North of Sydney, in beautiful Wangi Wangi. In June 1997 we returned to the USA, we spent a year in Portland, Oregon before moving a home 4 acres. Following David’s death, Lesley downsized and now lives in suburbia, and enjoys walking the neighborhood with her dogs.

In 1991, we added Whippets to our home and enjoy this breed immensely. We have had pleasing success in the show ring, and thank the breeders who supplied our foundation stock, mainly Debbie Butt of the Sporting Fields Whippets and Carol Harris of Bo-Bett. We do not currently own any whippets.

Lesley is a judge for all Hounds and Toys, Non Sporting & Herding breeds as well as some of the Working Group. She has judged in not only Australia and America, but also Canada, Taiwan, Philippines, Chile, Czech Republic, Germany, Mexico, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. In 2022 she judged at the Westminster Kennel Club show (Beagles, Dachshunds and Bernese Mountain Dogs).  Lesley judged The National Beagle Club Specialty (USA) in 1995.
